| Friday, February 23rd, is the date for FBL Music's 2nd Annual Mardi Gras Bash! This year's music-lovers party happens at The Lower Level at 940 Madison Avenue (below Angelo's on the corner of Madison and Federal in Bridgeport, a block off of Madison and Capitol). Doors open at 9pm and live music begins at 10. The bash features New Orleans native Renard Boissiere jamming with Rambunction, the hottest jam-funk fixture on the scene. Rambunction opened for Dirty Dozen Brass Band at FTC’s Stage One in 2006, and has been winning new fans weekly at Groovy’s in Fairfield. Rambunction is now in its third month performing at the Red Door’s hip jazz series, Live Jazz with Sushi. Making music for the brain and the backside, the quartet was nominated for best rock/funk band in the Best of Bands Awards in 2006. Joining the jam that night will be fiery funk-rock guitarist John Hickey (P-Funk, Bernie Worrell). John has fast become a fixture on the scene with the John Hickey Band. Also, Nardy Boy will drop a mix of chilled, acoustic-electric vibes. They appeared at Daniel Street with the John Hickey Band in December 2006. Keeping the party moving will be DJ Miguel, who will spin his mind-boggling mix of hardcore club hits throughout the night. Make the date. Don’t be late. Party ends when FBL says when.
